The Importance of Vulnerability in Relationships
Brene Brown, PhD, a researcher-professor at the University of Houston, has focused much of her research on vulnerability. According to Brown, being vulnerable with others strengthens your relationships with them.
Lindy, TFP educator, explained, “It opens up a level of intimacy when you’re willing to be vulnerable…you show each other the real you.”
Kim, TFP counselor, agreed. She said, “Vulnerability is important because it helps you develop trust. If you’re vulnerable with someone you have your defenses down, you’re being open.”
